Mark's Campaign Kickoff May 4th!
On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, voters in the 35th District of the Virginia House of Delegates will decide whether I continue to serve as their representative for another two years.
Since 2010, I have had the privilege of holding this public office, and I am eager to continue to fight for you.
Working together, we have already accomplished a lot over the past 4 years. You have provided me with your candid views and advice, and I have tried my best to represent your interests.
Whenever I knocked on your door or spoke with you at a community event, you told me to do something about our horrible traffic congestion mess, keep our public schools the best in the nation, and turn the economy around with good jobs and business opportunities.
With your support, I have focused like a laser beam on finding solutions to the problems you sent me to Richmond to fix:
· As a member of the House Finance Committee, I worked closely with a Republican Governor in a bipartisan effort to deliver a comprehensive transportation bill that will finally help commuters in Northern Virginia.
· As a member of the House Education Committee, I worked with parents, students, and teachers to provide tools to prepare our kids for 21st Century challenges and to improve our strong public schools and colleges.
· As a technology industry professional, I worked with private sector and government stakeholders to expand opportunities for innovative companies to hire more workers and to grow their businesses in Virginia.
· And, as someone who has overcome many odds in my life, I have fought for equality and fairness so that every Virginian can enjoy maximum opportunities without unnecessary government intrusion, no matter her race, gender, religious views, immigration status, sexual orientation, or personal healthcare decisions.
In order to continue our efforts to make the state government work for you, we are going to run a strong campaign and win in November.
To do so, I ask for your vote and for your generous volunteer assistance throughout the next six months.color>
And unlike 2011, this year, we will be facing a Republican challenger. Our campaign needs to replenish the financial resources after a couple of years of hardly raising any funds.
Would you join me at our first campaign fundraiser on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 4 pm?
I would love to see you as we kick off our 2013 reelection campaign . . . and to also help celebrate my birthday! (since my birthday coincides with the Mother's Day weekend, we thought it would be better to do this a week earlier).
If you can't be there in person, would you consider making a generous contribution to our campaign today?color>
